Mobile phone maker Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 13 series will be unveiled in the company’s home country of China on December 11th. The company will also unveil a new custom Android skin, his MIUI 14, along with the flagship Xiaomi 13 line. The company will also announce the Xiaomi Buds 4 and Xiaomi Watch S2.
Note that the Xiaomi 13 flagship lineup will be one of the first devices to feature Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile SoC. Vivo has already launched his X90 Pro+ with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
Xiaomi, which was supposed to unveil its flagship Xiaomi 13 series on December 1, has postponed the launch following the death of former General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Jiang Zemin.
GSMArena reports that the Xiaomi 13 will be a fairly compact flagship device with a top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It has flat sides and non-curved panels, and according to smartphone renderings, one of the color options will be blue leather. Leaked renders show that the Xiaomi 13 Pro will also have a similar camera arrangement but without the periscope lens.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro was impressive, but the Xiaomi 13 series could be equally disruptive. Note that the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro have partnered with German camera giant Leica to bring major camera upgrades.
Previously leaked images of the Xiaomi 13 series suggested the smartphone could resemble Apple’s iPhone line. However, new renders suggest a different camera design.
The Xiaomi 13 has a flat display and “very thin bezels”, according to an actual photo of the Xiaomi 13 series leaked earlier in a Notebook Check report, which is definitely thinner than the Xiaomi 13 Pro’s. The 13 Pro, like the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, relies on curved displays. Both smartphones have a large camera housing with three lenses, although the Xiaomi 13 Pro spreads out more across the back panel than the Xiaomi 13. The notebook check report also requires the camera housing to be significantly thicker.
