SAN FRANCISCO: Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has started rolling out a picture-in-picture mode for video calling in the iOS beta.
This new feature is available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.214.171.124 update from the TestFlight app, reports WABetaInfo.
This allows users to use other applications while video calling with WhatsApp.
If your account has this feature enabled, you’ll instantly see a picture-in-picture view when you multitask in other applications.
You can also temporarily disable the video call view as it uses the official iOS API (Application Programming Interface).
This will likely only work on iOS 16.1+, so it could be one of the features enabled by an update that adds official support for iOS 16.
According to reports, the new feature will be released to more users in the coming days.
Meanwhile, last week, the messaging platform began rolling out new features to some iOS beta testers. This allows users to search for messages by date.
This feature allows users to easily jump to a specific date within a conversation.
