Tata Group In Talks To Buy iPhone Maker Wistron’s Karnataka Plant: Report
Wistron started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017. This comes after years of effort by Apple to add manufacturing capacity in India. The deal, if successful, will help the salt-to-software conglomerate strengthen its group company Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd (TEPL)’s manufacturing capabilities in precision engineering, the ET report added. TEPL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons.

Meanwhile, chaos continues at Apple maker Foxconn’s largest iPhone manufacturing plant in China’s Zhengzhou district. It’s set up to be very expensive for Apple. The Zhengzhou Foxconn campus, which typically houses more than 200,000 employees and is where the majority of iPhone Pro models are assembled, has been hit by protests following strict Covid-19 restrictions, prompting Apple to sell 6 million employees. Professional models will lose their iPhones, said a recent report by news agency Bloomberg.
