151 – Samsung Names Younghee Lee As First Woman President: Report


South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics has announced it will nominate Lee Young-hee as its first female president, retaining the two current CEO positions, media reported. Younghee Lee has been appointed Global Market Officer for Samsung’s Device Experience or DX Division. Known as a marketing expert, she was with L’Oreal before joining Samsung in 2007.

According to a ZDNet report, Samsung Electronics’ new president, under the leadership of then-J.K. I worked hard to promote the smartphone brand.

She is also the first female president to come from outside the founding family of Samsung, South Korea’s largest conglomerate. The president is the highest position within an electronics manufacturer, after chief executive officer and vice chairman.

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that the smartphone giant hoped the promotion would serve as an opportunity for other talented female employees to challenge themselves to climb the career ladder. He is one of seven new presidents who are part of the first small-scale corporate reshuffle since leader Lee Jae-yong was promoted to chairman of the company in October.

Samsung did not appoint a new head of its consumer electronics division. The position had been vacant since Lee Jae-soon stepped down in October for undisclosed “personal reasons.” will continue to undertake additional duties for the foreseeable future, Samsung said.

The appointment of Samsung’s new female president comes ahead of the launch of the much-anticipated Galaxy S23 lineup. Most likely, a GSMArena report recently said, citing a South Korean publication that quoted a Samsung executive familiar with the matter. The Galaxy S23 series will launch globally in late February after the official announcement at Unpacked.

Note that there have been several leaks and rumors suggesting a Galaxy announcement at CES 2023 in January.Also, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will all be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos chipset.
