iPhone 15 Pro Max may feature folding lens camera

SAN FRANCISCO: Apple’s next smartphone, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will reportedly feature a periscope foldable zoom camera, although it will only be found on the top-end iPhones.

AppleInsider previously reported that the iPhone 14 series was expected to feature a foldable zoom camera system.

However, according to unspecified industry sources, both LG Innotek, a major supplier of mobile camera modules, and Jahwa Electronics, a camera module component maker, will offer the system for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

A folding zoom camera system likely won’t make a noticeable difference in the iPhone’s appearance, and won’t necessarily reduce camera bumps.

Instead, they might use mirrors or prisms that are expected to act like periscopes. This allows the system to use the entire body length and width of the iPhone.

The rumored system is expected to debut on the iPhone 15 Pro Max in 2024, and will likely come to both the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro, reports say.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, it was reported that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models would likely include new features like solid-state buttons with haptic feedback, titanium frames, and increased RAM.
