ChatGPT’s paid version available for $42 a month for some early users

New Delhi: Some ChatGPT users posted on social media on Monday that they have been granted access to the “ChatGPT Professional” version for $42 per month.

OpenAI, the Microsoft-owned AI company that developed the sensational chatbot, has yet to confirm pricing.

AI developer Zahid Khawaja posted a screenshot of ChatGPT’s pricing, showing $42 per month. He said the paid system responds faster than the free version.

However, another Twitter user posted, “I really wanted to pay for the plan, but $42 is too much.”

AI research organization OpenAI said it would soon monetize its ChatGPT platform after seeing huge response to AI chatbots that can write poems, essays, emails and even code.

The Microsoft-owned company said it was “starting to think about how to monetize ChatGPT” as a way to “ensure its long-term viability.”

Greg Brockman, president and co-founder of OpenAI, said:

ChatGPT last reported over 1 million users.

ChatGPT Professional is always available (no blackout windows), fast response from ChatGPT (no throttling), as many messages as you need (at least double the normal daily limit).

“If you are selected, we will contact you to set up a payment process and pilot. This is an early experimental program subject to change and will not make paid Pro Access generally available. Please note that at this time,” the company said.

Meanwhile, reports surfaced that Microsoft plans to pour $10 billion into OpenAI.
