Apple may develop AirPods Lite to compete with cheaper wireless earbuds

SAN FRANCISCO: Tech giant Apple is reportedly working on an “Airpods Lite” version to compete with cheaper wireless earbuds.

AirPods now come in four different models, from the second-generation AirPods to the advanced AirPods Max, making them extremely popular earbuds, but they don’t come cheap.

Demand for AirPods is expected to decline by 2023, according to Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu, 9to5Mac reports.

He further claims that AirPods shipments are expected to decline from 73 million units in 2022 to 63 million units in 2023, based on his industry intelligence. Reportedly, he won’t be releasing any new AirPods this year.

It’s unclear what exactly this product is or what features it has, but Pu describes it as a low-cost pair of earbuds that competes with non-Apple offerings.

Last year, Apple released the second generation of AirPods Pro, offering several upgrades including the next-generation H1 processor.
