Amazon starts delivering orders by drones in US states

New Delhi: E-commerce giant Amazon has started delivering orders by drone in California and Texas in the United States, aiming to fly packages to customers’ homes within an hour. College Station customers have received a small number of packages delivered by drone using the company’s “Amazon Prime Air” drone service, reports The Verge.

“Our aim is to bring drones safely into the skies. We are starting with these communities and will gradually expand delivery to more customers over time,” said Amazon Air. spokeswoman Natalie Banke said in a statement.

In 2020, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) gave the company “Part 135” approval for delivering packages by drone. Customers living in Rockford and College Station are eligible to sign up to place an order, but Amazon will notify customers living elsewhere when drone delivery becomes available in their area. .

After placing an order, customers receive tracking information and an approximate delivery time for the drone to deliver the package to their backyard, according to the report.
